KATE and Gerry McCann yesterday appealed once more to the public in Portugal to help find their missing daughter.

They launched their book there yesterday and hope the publicity will boost the hunt for Madeleine, who went missing in May 2007.

A picture of Madeleine’s face was the backdrop for a series of interviews with Portuguese media ahead of today’s launch.

Mrs McCann, who wrote the memoirs, again appealed for witnesses to come forward, saying: “I hope with all my heart that everyone remembers we still haven’t found Madeleine.”

The book was launched in the UK on May 12 to mark Madeleine’s eighth birthday.

It details the couple’s pain and suffering following the disappearance of their daughter from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, while they dined nearby.

Mrs McCann, 43, is expected to net more than £1million to pay private detectives to continue the global hunt.

Last week, the Metropolitan Police announced that a team of 30 detectives from Scotland Yard will be assigned to investigate all aspects of the case in a multi-million pound review.
